British climbers Luke Jamieson and Sebastian Musson have advanced to the finals of the 2025 IFSC Paraclimbing World Championships, following strong performances in the opening rounds at Olympic Park in Seoul.

Jamieson, competing in the RP1 category, was one of five British athletes in action during the first session on 20 September. He was joined by Lucy Keyworth (RP1 - 6th), Bella Walsh (AU2 - 6th), Lux Losey Sal (B3 - 5th), and Lawrence Morgan (RP1 - 13th), all of whom faced technically demanding routes in a competitive international field.

Speaking after securing his place in the finals, Jamieson said:

“The highlight of the round for me was my first route – that was my best-ever performance in an international competition, and it felt like all my training over the past couple of months paid off.

"Finals next week? Daunting, scary, but extremely exciting. It’s a really unique opportunity to climb in a World Championships final, especially in South Korea. I want to be able to showcase all the effort I’ve put in this season.”

The second session on 21 September saw 19-year-old Musson qualify for the finals in the AU2 category, finishing fourth. Fellow Brit James Rudge also competed in the same category, placing seventh. Luke Smith (RP3) narrowly missed out on a finals spot in the finals in 5th, while Mat Armitage (AL2) placed 16th.

Following his round, Musson said:

“Route one went really well for me – very much my style, with powerful big moves and a bit of endurance. Route two didn’t go so well, but it went well enough for finals so I’m happy with that.

"It’s my second finals in my second World Championships and we’re looking at improving from fourth place and aiming for the medals.

"It’s such a different atmosphere from any other comp I’ve been at. The crowds have been incredible and I’m so grateful to be here.”

The finals will take place on 24 and 25 September, where both athletes will have the opportunity to build on their performances
