Donate to the BMC

Have you heard about the fantastic work the BMC does? From funding conservation projects to building Olympians… the vital work our charities do to support the interests of walkers and climbers in England and Wales is not possible without the generous support we receive from our community. We can’t do our work without you.

Mend Our Mountains

The BMC Access & Conservation Trust's Mend Our Mountains campaign encourages everyone who values the hills, mountains and landscapes of Britain to donate to help repair and restore badly eroded paths in the UK. We have raised over £1.4 million since the start in 2016. That's over 50 miles of path restored and 544 miles of upland repaired - equivalent to over 67,000 double decker buses!

  • £10 buys a new handle for a mattock
  • £25 buys a shovel for path repair
  • £250 fixes approx. one metre of path
  • £1,000 flies ten bags of stone to an inaccessible mountain location
  • £5,000 funds our annual Get Stuck In volunteer path repair events

Wildfire Appeal

Donate to the BMC Access & Conservation Trust's Wildfire Appeal to help our new Wildfire Ranger protect the at-risk Eastern Moors in the Peak District from wildfires this spring and summer.

  • £10 funds a roll of 20 sphagnum moss plugs
  • £25 fully restores 1m2 of moorland
  • £50 stabilises bare peat with cut heather
  • £100 funds ten educational social media posts on wildfire prevention
  • £200 builds a 2m-wide dam to block and rewet a badly eroded gully
  • £2,000 hires a wildfire-prevention road sign
  • £10,000 buys a fire-detection drone

Eryri Apprentice Ranger

Funded by the BMC Access & Conservation Trust's Mend Our Mountains campaign, our Eryri Apprentice Ranger, Arwyn Parry, started this role in January 2026. We only need £12,000 more to complete his two years of training in path repair, conservation & outdoor qualifications to:

  • dramatically reduce footpath erosion in Eryri (Snowdonia)
  • increase accessibility for hill walkers, mountaineers and climbers
  • lead Get Stuck In path repair events for BMC volunteers
  • avoid carbon loss by preventing soil erosion and wash-away
  • protect endangered wildlife and increase biodiversity

The Climate Project

The Climate Project is a collection of nature-based solutions and advice brought to you by the BMC Access & Conservation Trust, which help to protect and restore nature, and address the climate and biodiversity crisis. We support Moors For the Future and Seagrass Ocean Rescue with their restoration projects, and give members the opportunity to plant sphagnum in the Peak District and seagrass along the North Wales coast.

Owning and managing crags for you

The BMC owns eight crags across England and Wales, and actively supports the management of several others for the benefit of climbers. The BMC's Land and Property Trust funds the upkeep of these sites, including Horseshoe Quarry, Aldery Cliff, Bwlch y Moch, Craig-y-Longridge, Harrison's Rocks, Wilton 1 Quarry, Stone Farm Rocks and Crookrise.

GB Climbing Teams

As a developing national team, the GB Climbing Team is managed within a finite funding envelope and as such, we are not able to provide support to athletes at all events throughout the season. We are grateful for the support of our partners which enables us to do more for our climbers at more events. Other ways the climbers and team can be supported is through individual donations.
