Erin McNeice secured a third-place finish in the Lead World Cup in Chamonix, adding a fourth Lead medal to her season tally. Meanwhile, Andrew Goodall narrowly missed setting a new British Speed climbing record by 0.029 seconds.

21-year-old McNeice qualified ninth before climbing to second in the semi-final with a score of 43+. In the final, she reached 42+ to claim the bronze medal behind Seo Chaehyun of South Korea and Annie Sanders of the USA.

Speaking to the IFSC, Erin said: “I’m happy. Usually the top three are always quite close and it’s a tough battle to win, but I had a lot of fun, and I think I climbed well.”

On the men’s Lead side, GB Climbing’s Toby Roberts was the only climber to top both routes in qualifying. However, he dropped to 20th place after the semi-finals, scoring 28+. Roberts said on Instagram that he “lost concentration” but was “happy with my lead shape” and is preparing for the next Lead World Cup in Madrid.

Other GB Climbing competitors included Zoe Peetermans (43rd), Thea Camera (56th), Rhys Conlon (45th), and Sam Butterworth (50th).
