Night Nav Skills Session | 18th November
Come and learn some micro night navigation skills on the hills just outside Birmingham
Night nav walk, focusing on micro-navigation on hills just outside Birmingham. BMC walk leader, Frank Bruce, will be guiding the exercise. Frank is a Mountain Leader and NNAS qualified navigation tutor. The distances walked will be short and in stages, with close reference to the OS Explorer Map 1:25 000 for this area, which is sheet 219. Please bring a copy if you have one. During the evening, we shall look particularly at contours and other features of the landscape, both natural and man-made, identifying them from the map. There are a few steep slopes on the Waseley Hills, as well as wooded areas, fences to handrail, and we may also try a little pacing. There will be plenty of opportunities for you to share your experience, as well as ask questions and follow up any particular features of navigation that you are interested in.
We’re excited to welcome you for a memorable evening in the outdoors!
