Stanage Edge draws thousands of climbers every year to enjoy one of the hundreds of routes along the edge, from classic V Diffs to bouldering test pieces. It's also a vital habitat for endangered moorland species such as curlew and ring ouzel. This social walk will explore the rich cultural and natural history of Stanage Edge. Learn about a watering hole for travelling merchants, a hermit's hiding place, gamekeepers bribed with beer and the lucky bird that spends its summers at Stanage and its winters in Morocco. On the way we’ll be visiting 4 ethels and 2 trig points. BMC members, their family, friends and those interested in the work of the organisation are invited to join a peer-led walk, hosted by BMC Peak Area volunteers. We’re excited to welcome you for a memorable day in the outdoors!
