Top tips for new club committee members
It can be great fun and very rewarding to be on the committee of your club, but it can also be very daunting. We’re here to support all those who are running BMC-registered clubs with some top tips.
Guidelines on BMC website
There is lots of guidance available on the BMC website. Use the Club Support Page on the BMC website as an easy location from where most of the information can be sourced. Two key resources are the Clubs Guidelines and the Huts Guidelines.
Sport England and Sport Wales both have support and guidance for clubs.
Club Together Newsletter
Club Together is the BMC’s bi-monthly newsletter. It’s specifically designed for all those who are running BMC registered clubs.

Clubs and Huts Webinar Programme

Huts WhatsApp Community
If you are involved in running your club hut you may wish to join our BMC Huts WhatsApp Community for the latest updates. There are also groups within the community that you can choose to join for discussions, support and good practice sharing.
Clubs and Huts listings
All BMC-registered clubs have the option to be included on the clubs list on the BMC website. If your club has a hut, then you are also invited to include that on the huts list. Check out the content and let us know of any updates needed via clubs@thebmc.co.uk or huts@thebmc.co.uk respectively.
Club Committee Training
Are you involved in supporting new or novice members? Join us on our 'Training Novices Members in Your Club' weekends covering climbing, hill walking and scrambling and another weekend covering winter skills.
Club Networks
Watch out for the local area Clubs Networks that will be rolling out across more BMC Areas during 2026. These are opportunities to raise queries, chat with other clubs and share ideas, usually over a Zoom call.
