The BMC welcomes Terance Li as an Independent Director who will also serve on the Nominations Committee. Terance brings a wealth of financial experience. His appointment has been confirmed by board and his continued appointment will be subject to member confirmation at the BMC AGM in 2026.

“I’ve been lucky that my career in finance has taken me around the world," said Terance. "It’s allowed me to climb in some amazing locations and meet interesting people and I can draw a straight line from all those experiences to the skills I apply in my life and work now."

On his background in the outdoors he said: "I was lucky to grow up with the West Pennine Moors on my doorstep but it was school and Scout camping trips to Snowdonia, The Lake District and the Forest of Bowland that cemented my love of the great outdoors. My maths teacher, Mr Field taught me how to climb. It was this foundation that got me climbing in the Wiltons, which eventually progressed to winter routes in Scotland and then the Alps. It doesn't matter if it's walking, running or climbing, a day on the hill is never a day wasted."

When addressing his future time at the BMC, he said "It is my ambition to ensure the success of the BMC for another 80 years and to advocate on behalf of all our members and the outdoor community. On a personal level, I would like to pass on the things that were taught to me so that others can have their own adventures in the mountains.”
