A free beginner-friendly, two-hour mini skills session designed to give you the confidence to get outdoors and complete your first walk. This session is open to all. Learn how to plan your walk, navigate your route and make good decisions along the way.
This session is run by the British Mountaineering Council in partnership with Manchester Active and Manchester City Council.

Walk Grading: Easy
Distance: Approx 2 km
Duration: Approximately 2 hours (1 hour classroom, 1 hour walking)
If you or anyone in your party can’t attend after booking, please let us know so we can offer the place to others

What to Bring
Please bring appropriate footwear like trainers or boots which are comfortable for an hours walk. Please also bring a warm layer and/or waterproof layer and a water bottle
Who Can Attend
Open to adults and children with a parent. Heaton Park is wheelchair freindly and we will be travelling on paved and tarmac footpaths
Health Precautions: If you have any health conditions that might impact your participation, please inform us in advance. Carry any required medications, and let the walk leader know if assistance may be needed in accessing them
If you are unsure of your ability or would like advice regarding kit and suitability for this walk, please email the leader in advance
Photographs may be taken by the leader for future communications about the programme. If you do not wish for your photograph to be taken please let the leader know in advance or at the start of the walk
