If you'd like to give back to the mountains and landscapes you love to explore and adventure in, fundraising for the BMC Access & Conservation Trust is a fantastic idea. From coffee mornings to sponsored walks, here's everything you need to get started.

THANK YOU for considering fundraising for the BMC Access & Conservation Trust. We are the charity raising funds for sustainable access and conservation projects on cliffs, crags, hills and mountains across Great Britain. If you love climbing, hiking and mountaineering and want to see those landscapes restored in your lifetime and protected for future generations, the BMC Access & Conservation Trust is the charity for you.

How to get started?

We have linked up with JustGiving so you can easily sign up to fundraise for us here. Simply click the 'Start fundraising' button to set up your fundraising page for the BMC Access & Conservation Trust. You might have a fundraising event in mind, but if not, here are a few ideas:

  • Sponsored walk, swim, climb or cycle
  • Running events like 5k, 10k, half marathon, marathon or ultra
  • Coffee morning and/or bake sale
  • Raffle or silent auction with prizes from local businesses
  • Sky dive!
  • School disco, talent show or beetle drive
  • Dinner party or concert
  • A personal environmental challenge - like taking <5min showers every day for one month, not using the car for any journeys less than 3 miles long for a year, planting a certain number of trees, attending a certain number of Get Stuck In BMC volunteer mountain path repair events.

Where do the funds go?

Your funds from any sponsored activities on JustGiving or any similar websites will automatically be allocated to the BMC Access & Conservation Trust's unrestricted pot which will be used where the need is greatest. If you would like to give to a particular campaign or project, please contact us to direct your funds into the right pot.

We currently have two campaigns, The Climate Project and Mend Our Mountains. The former is a suite of nature-based environmental solutions designed to help combat the climate crisis including planting sphagnum moss to restore peat moorland in the Peak District with Moors for the Future Partnership.

The latter funds path and crag repair and access projects nationwide, such as path repair on Roseberry Topping in North Yorkshire, Scafell Pike in the Lake District and Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) in North Wales; safer access to the climbing and dry tooling routes at Masson Lees Quarry; a Wildfire Ranger for the Peak District's Eastern Moors and an Apprentice Ranger for the path repair team in Eryri (Snowdonia).

For current projects that you might like to fundraise for, please visit the most up to date info here.

What if I don't want to use JustGiving?

You can contact us for a good old fashioned sponsorship form, or use any other charity fundraising site. If the BMC Access & Conservation Trust is not listed as one of their charities, please contact us to sign up with them so you can start raising funds for the BMC Access & Conservation Trust.
