BMC FUNdamentals of Climbing 1
FUNdamentals of Climbing 1 introduces climbing coaches to key movement principles in a practical one-day format. This workshop is delivered by the BMC, Plas y Brenin, Mountaineering Ireland and Mountaineering Scotland.
FUNdamentals of Climbing 1 has been refined and updated ever since it was first developed 20 years ago. It is often the first CPD coach education course newer climbing coaches undertake, and forms part of the pathway for starting on the Mountain Training Coaching Scheme and meeting the requirements to deliver NICAS.
You can expect a day under the guidance of an expert provider who will help you discover key fundamental movement principles and explore appropriate activities for learners. The learning outcomes and syllabus can be read in detail via the link below. You'll learn best if able to climb with your peers on the course, consult with your Provider to discuss any accessibility requirements you may have before booking to ensure these can be met.
Bring your usual equipment and clothing for bouldering indoors, an extra layer, packed lunch and drink. Tablets and smartphones may be useful for notes and filming purposes.
It is usual for individual bookings to register for wall entry in advance and pay the wall entry fee themselves.
All learners receive a detailed post course pack to facilitate onward learning, note this course contains no assessment.
