The British Mountaineering Council (BMC) today launches the expressions of interest process for its new Headquarters and a GB Climbing training centre.

The move follows careful consideration of the current Burton Road office with Staff, Board and Members Council, which has become increasingly inefficient in terms of costs, numbers using the building, energy use, and accessibility.

Options are being sought to move to more modern and efficient offices for either;

  • a combined BMC office and GB Climbing training centre, or
  • separate facilities for a modern BMC office and a GB Climbing training centre

This relocation will need to coincide with the sale of current headquarters in West Didsbury, Manchester. Edwards Property Consultants will be supporting the search for new premises and the marketing of the building. We will only relocate if the right premises are sourced and if we realise the value of the building for members.

Interested parties are invited to express their interest by 8 October 2025. Full details are set out in the expressions of interest documents.

Update’s will be provided to members as the process progresses.
