BMC strengthens leadership ahead of the 2025 – 2030 strategy

Today the British Mountaineering Council (BMC) has announced the appointment of James Thomas and Brent Diffin to its Board of Directors and Lee Kenny as its new Head of Commercial.
Lee Kenny joins the BMC from Jaguar Land Rover, to lead the BMC’s commercial function as Head of Commercial, working across marketing, communications, partnerships and events. Kenny has held roles across the sport industry including cycling and football.
Brent Diffin will join the Board as an Independent Director. A chartered accountant at PWC, Diffin brings over a decade of senior leadership experience across financial services, national government, and private sectors in the UK and Ireland.
Also joining the Board as Nominated Director is James Thomas a BMC member. With over two decades of leadership in the UK’s sporting system, James brings experience from Olympic, Paralympic, and professional sport.
Recently appointed Performance Director for Warwickshire Cricket, Thomas has also held holds multiple non-executive roles, including with GB and England Badminton.
James as Nominated Director will also form and Chair a new Performance Advisory Group (PAG) to oversee our Performance Programmes and play a significant part in shaping our future sporting success towards L.A 2028. The PAG will provide strategic oversight of the UK Sport programme, England Talent programme and GB National Teams through appropriate review and monitoring processes.
