BMC Membership Fee Update 2026

The British Mountaineering Council (BMC) exists to represent and support climbers, hill walkers and mountaineers and your BMC Membership makes this possible. It funds the vital work we do in protecting access to crags and mountains, delivering conservation projects and managing our eight BMC-owned crags so we can inspire and support routes to adventure for all.
Each year, we review membership fees with the BMC Board and Members Council to ensure the BMC remains financially secure and to maximise value for members. Today, we are announcing that from 1 January 2026, membership fees will increase in line with the Retail Price Index (RPI), which has been set at 4.8% (based on July’s figures from the Office of National Statistics). Over the past 12 months, membership income has enabled us to deliver impactful conservation and community initiatives, continue to manage and care for our owned crags, develop a new hill walking programme and support 89 events and competitions across all our activities.
