The manufacturer Petzl have issued a recall for the most recent models of Pirana descender and have requested that users immediately stop using the descenders affected by this recall.

Petzl today issued a recall for the Pirana descender, a popular device for canyoning. This is due to a risk of drowning if the rope accidentally gets blocked in the blocking slot. Users are asked to immediately stop using the affected devices and to contact Petzl for a refund.

Serial numbers: between 19 F 0000000 000 and 22 A 9999999 999.

Sold from July 2019 to January 2022.

The previous generation of descender are not affected.
