The national team, which is currently training for the Hangzhou Asian Games (AG) in the esports event "PUBG Mobile," has expressed confidence that it can "go for the gold medal.

Yoon Sang-hoon, head coach of the PUBG Mobile national team, said this at a press conference held at Crafton's [259960] headquarters in Gangnam-gu, Seoul on the 13th.

"We've already surpassed the Chinese team's record in the Road to the Asian Games (RDAG), which is an evaluation tournament, and we have an edge in the unofficial evaluation matches," Yoon said.

PUBG Mobile involves four teams of four players each driving a vehicle around a course to test their teamwork and shooting skills.

Originally, the game is played by about 100 players with firearms and fights until the last team is left, but the interpersonal shooting element has been removed for this AG.

"When I first heard that there would be no interpersonal shooting, I wondered, 'What kind of game is this?'" said Park Sang-chul (DPLUS Kia), captain of the national team. "But when I saw the AG version, I was attracted to it because it had new and strategic elements."

The team demonstrated the actual AG game version before the meeting started.

The game featured strategic elements such as speeding up by hitting 'acceleration targets' while traveling in a car, and quickly clearing the course by preempting high-scoring targets.

Positions consisted of one "driver" driving the car and three "shooters" hitting the targets.

Rankings are based on how many points they score on the four courses and how quickly they cross the finish line.

"We have three groups of practice partner teams made up of domestic players to strategize," explains Yoon, "and we recently held a mock practice at SK Handball Stadium to create a situation similar to the real thing."

"We expect China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong, who we faced in the RDAG, to be our biggest competitors," said Kim Jun-soo, a power analyst.

The team has been training since the end of Season 3 of the domestic league 'PMPS 2023' earlier this month. 고스톱
