Organising BMC Events

Considering organising a BMC Event? You've come to the right place. The information you need is set out below and starts with Event Approval.

The system is to ensure that BMC events are properly planned, ensuring risks are mitigated and everything reasonable is done to safeguard those involved.

It also ensures that BMC knows what events are going on under its name and who is involved, and will enable us to protect volunteers involved in organising events.

All events that are approved in this way will be BMC events and, as such, the BMC and volunteers will be covered by BMC insurance.

What type of events do we mean?

BMC events which must go through the event approval process include:

  • Events run by BMC Areas that have an outdoor element to them, such as crag clean-ups, walking or climbing events and festivals, etc
  • BMC youth meets
  • GB Team events

They do not include:

  • Area meetings
  • Slide shows

Ape Index: Hard Grit Live

It seems incredible that the all-time classic climbing film, Hard Grit, is almost twenty years old this year. And in a spirit of milking the past for all it's worth, some of the people behind the film are getting together for a once-in-a-lifetime live event in Sheffield to remember the fun and spirit that went into the film, and the climbs that it spawned. April 1st – this ain’t no joke.
