Open Youth Competitions: March 2016 Results

The first Open Youth climbing competitions took place in north west England over the weekend of 5 and 6 March 2016.

Lead Climbing

The Lead event was hosted by Awesome Walls Liverpool on Saturday 5 March 2016. With over 110 young climbers entered Awesome Walls was full to the rafters and there was some fantastic performances from all the categories.
 
The standout efforts came from Daniel Smith and Josh Ibbertson in Youth C who both managed to top their final routes and had to be split on countback to the qualifiers.

Bouldering

The Boulder event took place at the Depot Climbing Centre Manchester on Sunday 6 March 2016.
 
The fantastic new Depot climbing centre in Manchester hosted over 160 boulderers on Sunday, and with plenty of space the routes setters set some great problems in varying styles.
 
The finals were held on the big wide competition wall and some great efforts where put in at the end of a long day and some of the climbers were looking quite tired from their efforts in the qualifiers.

GB Climbing & Berghaus
 
This weekend also saw the launch of the new relationship with the GB Climbing Team and Berghaus who have just signed up with the BMC in a two year deal to provide clothing to the GB team. All the junior climbers looked great in their new team kit and there will be some pictures to follow soon. Look at for the GB Climbing Team in their new kit at future events.
