This week, over 500 top athletes and 20,000 spectators will converge on the AccorHotels Arena in Paris for the 2016 IFSC World Climbing and Paraclimbing Championships starting 14 September. Find out all you need to know about the Boulder and Lead Championships here and tune into the livestreams of the semi-finals and finals on 16-18 September.
It’s been an exhilarating year so far on the international climbing circuit, with our very own Shauna Coxsey, MBE, becoming the overall IFSC Boulder World Cup Champion before the season was even over and seeing stellar performances from the GB Climbing and Paraclimbing Teams.
Unfortunately, a shoulder injury sustained in the Boulder World Cup Series grand finale has forced Shauna to withdraw from the World Championships in Paris, but our team’s still looking plenty strong.
Dave Barrans and Jim Pope will be competing in all three events to vie for the combined title, Leah Crane is on the verge of making an international final in bouldering, William Bosi – the youngest Brit to climb 9a – is on the Leading team alongside BMC ambassador Molly Thompson-Smith, young cranker Nathan Phillips, runner-up in the British Bouldering Championships 2016, will compete alongside the dark horse of bouldering, Tyler Landman, who is making the journey across the pond to crush.
There's a wealth of talent and we can't wait to see everyone pull hard and try their best at this prestigious event. Read on for our previews of the Boulder and Lead disciplines, along with timings and livestream links.

Bouldering preview
Throughout the bouldering season this year, it was evident that Team Japan were looking incredibly strong – so brilliant, in fact, that they took home three of the six medals of the overall standings in the IFSC Boulder World Cup. Tomoa Narasaki and Kokoro Fuji took gold and silver, respectively, in the men's overall, while Miho Nonaka claimed silver in the women's.
But let's not forget, the GB Climbing Team came third in the overall in the National Team Ranking, not far behind France in second and Japan in first.
We'll be looking to cheer on crowd favourites like Tyler Landman, Leah Crane and Dave Barrans, not to mention up-and-coming talent such as Nathan Phillips and Jim Pope.

Lead preview
Frontrunner of the 2016 Lead World Cup rankings, Domen Skofic of Slovenia, will be looking to derail Czech Republic rockstar Adam Ondra from regaining his title. In the 2014 IFSC World Championships, Ondra became the first athlete to win both Lead and Bouldering in the same year.
Jain Kim of South Korea will be looking to defend her title against Janja Garnbret of Slovenia, who was too young for the 2014 World Championships and has soared to the top in this year's IFSC Lead World Cup series. But don't rule out Anak Verhoeven of Belgium who dazzled at the World Cup in Arco.
Competing for the GB Climbing Team will be young talent William Bosi, Molly Thompson-Smith, and Jim Pope, not to forget seasoned competitor Dave Barrans.
