Packing a rucksack isn't the most complicated task in the world, but there is a bit of an art to doing it in a way which means you can access your clothes and equipment as easily as possible. 

One of the world’s most respected experts on long-distance walking and backpacking, Chris Townsend, explains how he does it. 

Chris is also the BMC’s first hill walking ambassador.
