Volunteer with the BMC at Trowbarrow Crag.

Over the years chalk has become engrained on the holds on Red Wall, particularly at the base of the wall.  Members of the public have noted the white marks on the wall and have commented that it is unsightly.  The task involves cleaning engrained chalk from holds at the base of the wall.  Test ‘washings’ have shown that it is easy to clean the holds with water and in some cases with a soft brush.  The holds have remained cleaner even several months after the tests. Alongside this task participants will help with the removal of scrub in the vicinity of Red Wall and elsewhere in the quarry.  This will improve access and enhance the limestone flora.
