How to write for Summit
Most of our features are arranged in advance with specific writers, but there's always opportunities to get involved, especially if your idea matches up with something we've got planned for that issue. But please get in touch with an idea first before sending anything in.
How to get your photos published in Summit
Summit is always in need of high standard photos for publication. We take photos from everyone, from professionals to occassional snappers, as long as they're good. The best way is dropbox us a set of images.
Suggestions
Got an idea for an article, but don't fancy writing it yourself? Just let us know and we'll try and find someone to write it.
General submission guidelines
Text
Words can be accepted in a variety of normal formats, but MS Word is preferred. Please ensure it is spell chcked and proof red before sending it in. We no longer accept hard copies, so email only please.
Images (digital)
Almost all the pics in Summit are digital.
Size: We need an image that is 300dpi at reproduction size. (e.g. A4 = 3500 pixels x 2500). We probably won't use anything smaller than A5 (2400 x 1700). The actual file size will vary depending on the picture, but for A4 this is generally 2M - 6M. Phone photos are no problem if they're bright and sharp.
Format: Ideally we'd like tiffs but this is overkill unless you know we're going to use them big on the cover or over a double page. Most of the time jpegs are fine (uncompressed, setting 12 or highest files size, highest quality etc).
How to send them in: If you've got five or so, just send the hi-res by email. For more than five, Dropbox is best. Upload and invite alex@thebmc.co.uk to your folder.
Images (retro)
We can still use 35mm slide for special shots, but please contact us before sending in. We'd much prefer it if you scanned the slides and sent us the pics on CD or dropbox.
Terms
All images will be used only in the Summit magazine specified, plus a 290x200 pixel image of the main image for each article will be used with the article here the website. Both instances will be fully credited. CDs are not returned unless specifically requested. We will return all material by registered post, in suitable packing, but please make sure you send it in a suitable package! Every care is taken of materials sent for publication, however these are submitted at the sender's risk.
