Here at the BMC we understand the importance of families, and we want BMC-affiliated clubs to be able to better support their members who have children and wish to include them in club activities, so that’s why we’ve introduced a new club package.
We know that many clubs also value families and understand that including family members on all or some of the club meets can help adult members (the parents) be more active in the club because they can bring their children along. These children are also future adult members of the club, and introducing them at a younger age can help them understand what a club can offer and encourage them to remain as members as they grow up. Clubs also appreciate that by offering family memberships they can encourage new members to join.
We have worked with our insurance brokers to come up with a new package for families, and this launched in January 2019.
How it works
We are now able to offer complimentary membership to under 11 year olds when they join a club and are associated with their parent, grandparent or legal guardian who is a club member and takes responsibilty for the child(ren). This means that the child will receive the same combined liability insurance cover as any other BMC Club Member, although they won’t receive their own membership card. This offer is available for children up to and including the calendar year in which they turn 11. Once the child becomes 12 years old they will then become a BMC Club Member in their own right and the fee for Under 18’s becomes due.
To activate this offer all that the club will need to do is to input the appropriate information about the child in to their club profile on Membership Services Online (MSO) and further detail about this will be available in the MSO User Guide.
If you have any questions about this offer please contact either Jane Thompson (BMC Clubs Officer) on 07885 910606, jane@thebmc.co.uk or the BMC Membership Services Team on 0161 445 6111, members@thebmc.co.uk.
