Alex MacIntyre Hut 2017 Annual report

The Alex MacIntyre Memorial Hut is located between Glencoe and Fort William in the Western Highlands. Jointly owned and administered by the BMC and the MCofS, the management team held its AGM last April.

Keypad locks for mountaineering club huts

Some clubs hire out their mountain huts to other clubs, groups or individuals. One way of allowing secure but simple access without the need to post a set of keys is to install a keypad lock. This system has proven to work well, but not all keypad locks are approved for use by the BMC's hut insurance underwriters. Read on to find out which ones are approved for use.

New look Glen Brittle hut welcomes next generation over the sea to Skye

At the south-west base of the Cuillin Ridge stands the Glen Brittle hut, a whitewashed haven that has been welcoming Skye climbers for the last fifty years. The hut has just celebrated its 50th anniversary with the reopening its doors after a much-needed refit. We take a look at how times have changed.
