The BMC Student Safety and Good Practice Seminar is a must if you're involved in running a student climbing, hill walking or mountaineering club.
Student clubs are invited to send a maximum of two representatives who are involved in running the club, and are active walkers and/or climbers.
This event gives university club members the opportunity to improve their club practices and ensure safer enjoyment of our cliffs and mountains. The weekend comprises a mixture of lectures, discussions and practical workshops.
TOPICS COVERED INCLUDE:
> Risk with responsibility
>Single and multi pitch rock climbing
>Winter and alpine mountaineering
>Climbing for all, disability awareness in rock climbing
>Maintenance & care of pooled equipment
>Legal perspective on club liabilities
>Incident management and first aid
>Clubs and student union policy
VENUE & DATE
The seminar will be held at Plas y Brenin in North Wales on Saturday 21st & Sunday 22nd October 2017.

TRAVEL & ACCOMMODATION
Representatives are responsible for making their own travel and accommodation arrangements.
The seminar fee is £50 per person for members of BMC affiliated clubs and £70 per person for members of non BMC affiliated clubs. Fee includes workshops and refreshments on both days, lunch on Saturday and free use of the climbing wall. Payment will be taken upon booking.

If you have an appropriate mountaineering qualification (MIA, MIC, SPA, Summer/Winter ML) and fancy volunteering to help out at the Seminar then email James McHaffie.

The only cost for affiliation to the BMC is the individual payments for each member, there is no additional ‘club fee’. For 2017 the BMC fees for each Club Member are: Adult - £13.25 Student - £9.75 Under 18’s - £8.00
