Has anyone else noticed that the lead comp date clashes with Round 4 of Blokfest (which has been in the diary for over a month now)?

Yet again the dates are over half term, please go on line and check these dates it’s not hard.

My son loves lead climbing but he loves Blokfest more.

I feel it is a shame that for most competotors the lead climbing competition amounts to a week end with only two routes to climb.

Do you have the dates for the other competitions yet?

Enter the competition for fun, just don't expect either your result in this competition or the lead cup to be taken into consideration for selection for the GB Development Squad. No results from any open competitions are considered. Make sure you train hard for that selection event and smile at the selection committee (preferably pay for some coaching from one of them before the event) ! :-)

Advice for all young climbers, enter these competitions because you love climbing and want to succeed, NOT as a means of getting into the national team. If you do well in the day and aren't part of "the squad" walk away with a smile and happy in the knowledge that you have left the BMC with egg on their face and the difficult task of working out who they can justify sending to Europe. DO NOT expect they BMC to admit they got anything wrong! (Unless you really mucked up last year but daddy has kicked up such a stink that they let you in through a previously unpublished back door)!

Is it possible to have the dates for the others this year. We are trying to plan our year and it is difficult without the dates.

Hi,

Many thanks for your comment.

Once the venues have been confirmed the dates for the remaining competitions will be announced.
I am hoping by the end of next week if not then the week after.

Kind Regards,

Zoe

Hi, was the new recent change to the ifsc bouldering rules not taken into consideration, where scoring is now tops, then bonuses then attempts to top then attempts to bonus (zones), actually would have changed the results of the bouldering finals had the ifsc rule change been implemented, just wondering as no one seems to have commented or noticed, thanks.

Not only would it have changed the finals, in some cases, it would have changed who qualified for finals. Please can the BMC explain when or if they will be adopting the new IFSC boulder rules?

Regarding the bouldering comp
Why was the decision made not to allow entries on the day?
Why weren't the new ifsc rules used regarding tops / attempts at bonuses etc?
Why were judges used who had never judged before and hadn't been briefed before hand?
Why weren't there any prizes? (What was the entrance fee for?)
I also worry about what we are teaching these kids about sportsmanship - some very poor behaviour from some competitors when things didn't go their way.

Why can't I post on the results page?
Hopefully someone can explain why the new ifsc rules weren't used? Several of the results would have been different even affecting the podiums in some cases. If these are the rules to be used in the European comps why aren't we using them nationally? It would have been good to see harder and more technical setting in some of the categories and particularly some of the finals to prepare these children for the level of European competitions.
