Management at the Berry Head National Nature Reserve recently contacted BMC with concerns over climbers deepwater soloing and false call-outs for the coastguard service.

The National Nature Reserve is supportive of climbing on the Berry Head crags, but false emergencies create significant problems for the coastguard, and put the NNR in a difficult position by allowing DWS. More false emergencies may jepordise access for climbers in the future.

Climbers wanting to DWS on these crags MUST call Brixham Maritime Rescue Co-ordination Centre before starting.
