The ABC Training Trust are seeking new trustees to join their board. This could be you!
The ABC Training Trust (ABCTT) is a small educational trust, set up to deliver and develop the National Indoor Climbing Award Schemes and support future climbers through quality coaching.
They are currently working towards the adoption of the Voluntary Code of Good Governance as laid out by the Sport and Recreation Alliance. Part of this process has been to review the skill set of their board of trustees.
At their AGM the ABCTT were able to change the constitution of this board, and are now looking to bring some new trustees in to the team, with the skills we need to drive the ABCTT through the next phase of development.
The ABCTT are therefore inviting expressions of interest from keen and committed individuals to join this dynamic board. The board of the ABC Training Trust:
Meet at least four times per year.
Are responsible for setting the strategic vision and mission of this dynamic educational charitable trust.
Meetings are regularly held at Mile End climbing wall; the BMC office; and occasionally in Milton Keynes/Reading.
The ABC Training Trust covers all travel expenses incurred by trustees
Recent developments for the trust include the moderation and quality assurance process for NICAS and the delivery of the new NIBAS scheme. In addition, they are seeking new skills amongst their board of trustees to facilitate future developments. These may include, but neither exhaustively nor exclusively:
A communications working group – to include the development of a user-focussed website with inspirational, motivational, and educational resources to improve the NICAS experience for all our user groups.
An education working group – to explore the potential for recognition by further exam boards, development of resources and relationships to develop and promote the use of NICAS schemes for GCSE/A level climbing in PE.
A finance working group to explore the financial model of the NICAS schemes in order to increase officer time and quality of customer experience, without detracting from the accessibility and value of the NICAS schemes.
Time contributed to these working groups would be in addition to that devoted to board meetings. If you feel that this rewarding opportunity to join the team appeals to you, then please send a quick CV outlining the skills you offer to Martin Chester, the ABCTT Executive Officer (email@example.com).
As you can imagine, the ABCTT are keen to select trustees with a genuine enthusiasm, commitment, and the opportunity to contribute to this development and progress. The next board meeting is on February 6th, so initial expressions of interest would be appreciated before the end of January.
