Troll Ventura harness - advisory notice

Troll Ventura cracked harness buckle

All owners/users of Troll Ventura harnesses are advised to check their harness buckles for cracks, as a precautionary measure.

A crack in the waist buckle of a Troll Ventura harness was detected during routine inspection by the owner. Examination of the harness by the BMC Technical Committee revealed that apart from this damage the harness was in good condition. The buckle was manufactured from an aluminium alloy that had been black anodised. The waist buckle was considered to have been significantly weakened as the crack had extended through 46% of the section thickness. This defect was identified to have initiated during manufacture.

It was not possible to contact the manufacturer to determine whether this defect was a one off or a batch problem. In the light of this, it was felt necessary to publish an advisory notice.
