A group of volunteers and a small grant from the Access and Conservation Trust (ACT) has meant that Sea Walls is now a little less muddy….

The grassy area below the fixed anchor points at Sea Walls, Avon Gorge had become badly eroded. This led to climbing groups becoming less than enthused to climb in the area and for an increase in wet mud from climbers shoes being spread over the limestone, causing erosion and polishing of the rock. 

A number of regular users to the area therefore rallied together and with some help from the BMC managed to fund the works needed to re-surface the area. The mud at the base of the crag has been removed and replaced with stones, which provide much needed drainage and a good solid base for climbers to use.
