Harrisons Rocks Woodland Management Plan

Harrisons Rocks

The BMC (British Mountaineering Council) have recently acquired the Harrison's Rocks site and now wish to develop the woodland, both to enhance the environment, regenerate the woodland and improve the condition of the rock face.

The HRMG (Harrison's Rocks Management Group) is a sub group of the BMC run by volunteers to supervise and help protect the woodland and cliff environment.

A Woodland Plan has been drawn up in conjunction with a recommended Forestry Commission Woodland Agent Jonathan Webb and with a Forest Expert and Tree Surgeon Tony Flint. The plan can be found on the SVG (Sandstone Volunteer Group) website here.

Climbers and walkers are stakeholders of the woodland site and the rocks. As part of the plan that will be sent into the Forestry Commission for ratification, we are asking for climbers and walkers to make comment on the plan as a part of the consultation section of the plan.

The BMC would like to invite users of the site to read the outline plan (or the full plan if you have time) and make a comment on whether you are in agreement with it or not. Lots of replies will mean that the plan will easily pass scrutiny by the Forestry Commission and allow the BMC to implement the plan for a regenerated Harrisons.

Hills 2 Oceans returns for 2020

Since the start of 2019, Hills 2 Oceans (H2O) has been calling on BMC members and the wider public to get involved in a litter pick to help remove as much litter and plastic from our hills, mountains and crags as possible so it doesn’t end up in our oceans. The campaign is back for 2020 and this year we’re calling on volunteers to do even more.
