This social walk will explore Scafell Pike and several other Wainwright Tops in a challenging walk via the Corridor Route. This will be a memorable walk with 1800m of climbing and 15 miles of hill walking over rough terrain.

You are invited to join a peer-led walk, hosted and led by BMC member and Lake District volunteer, Lloyd Entwistle. We’re excited to welcome you for a memorable day in the outdoors! Please consider your fitness when considering this walk. The group will not split and hence we will move at the pace of the slowest member.

Walk Details

Walk Grading: Severe

Distance: Approx. 24 km (15 miles)

Ascent: 1800 m (5,900 ft)

Duration: Approximately 11 hours

Time: Saturday 2nd August, 6:00 am for a 6:15 am start

Parking: Pay and display; payment options include cash, card or free to National Trust members. Please check out the BMC Liftshare service

Facilities: Public toilets available at the car park

Public Transport: 516 from Kendal although the walk starts before the first bus runs. Arrival the day before and camping at the nearby campsite is an option.

What to Bring

We’ll cover a range of terrains, so please ensure you are well-prepared with appropriate gear

Footwear: Sturdy, water-resistant hiking boots or shoes with good grip

Clothing: Dress in layers, including a warm layer and waterproofs, as conditions can vary; bring a hat and gloves for cooler areas

Food and Drink: Bring enough food and water for a full day’s hike; there will be no places to purchase refreshments en route

Other Essentials: Although we plan to finish within daylight hours, carrying a small torch or head torch is advisable for emergencies

Who Can Attend

Adults only. This walk is not able to accomodate dogs or U18's

Health Precautions: If you have any health conditions that might impact your participation, please inform us in advance. Carry any required medications, and let the walk leader know if assistance may be needed in accessing them

Covid-19: Please do not attend if you feel unwell or have Covid-19 symptoms
