BMC/Climb Scotland Paraclimbing Series 2016 - Overall results & GB Parateam 2017

The final round of the BMC/Climb Scotland Paraclimbing 2016 series took place at Newcastle Climbing Centre on the 10 December. This years series has seen a great increase in numbers of competitors and the last round was no exception culminating in a fantastic final.

With some fierce competition over the four rounds of the series which saw 60 competitors and over 150 event entries showing significant increases on previous years which is fantastic for the development of paraclimbing.

There were some great routes set at Newcastle Climbing centre to test all of the categories and 9 out of the 13 categories had enough competitors to achieve overall series results - which can be seen below:-

Male Visual Impairment

1st place - Lux Losey
2nd place - John Churcher
3rd place - Gwyn Robers

Female Hearing Impairment

1st place - Georgia Pilkington
2nd place - Hannah Atkinson

Female Neurological/Physical Disability

1st place - Hannah Baldwin
2nd place - Anita Aggarwal
3rd place - Elena Bunbury

Male Neurological/Physical Disability

1st place - Mikey Cleverdon
2nd place - Dave Bowes
3rd place - Simon Key

Female - Arm Amputee

1st place - Isabelle Walsh
2nd place - Anoushe Husain

Female - Leg Amputee

1st place - Joanna Waterton
2nd place - Esme Harte
3rd place - Kate Howden

Male - Leg Amputee

1st place - Martin Heald
2nd place - Bjoern Eser
3rd place - Josh Senior

After the event finished the GB Paraclimbing team management met to select a GB Paraclimbing Team for 2017 who would represent GB Climbing at international para events next season. The new team members can be seen below:-
