The BMC Club & Huts Seminar 2010 took place at Plas y Brenin on Saturday 23rd October and was free for all BMC Affiliated Clubs. It provided some extremely useful advice and guidance to club members that was very well received.

Speakers and topics included the following:

  • Incorporation, by John Barrett (FRCC) and Brian Water (MAM)
  • Clubs in Scotland and the MC of S, by Ron Payne (MC of S)
  • Children and huts, by Nick Colton (BMC)
  • The Work of BMC Huts Group, by Iain McCallum (Chair BMC Huts Group)
  • Legal issues, by Martin Wragg (BMC Honarary Legal Advisor)
  • Health & Safety issues, by Arthur Green (Vagabond MC)
  • Insurance issues, by David Fieldhouse (Perkins-Slade)
  • Community Amateur Sports Clubs (CASCs), by Chris Walker (Lancashire MC)
  • Hut water supplies

The day was rounded off with a joint question and answer session.

Everyone that attended agreed that the seminar had been very worthwhile and had raised many interesting issues and questions - some that had even been resolved.

The seminar was organised by BMC Clubs Officer Martin Kocsis in conjunction with Iain McCallum (Chair of BMC Huts Group) and John Farrow (Chair of BMC Clubs Committee) and was also attended by Dave Turnbull (BMC CEO).

The BMC would like to thank everyone that gave presentations and also all those who attended for their generous contributions to the discussions and debates.
