Decide who you want to see running the BMC. This year, candidates are running for election to the positions of BMC President, Vice-President, and Independent Director. Read about them below.
Lynn Robinson
Candidate for BMC President
I am a current BMC Vice President. If elected as President, I will use my extensive experience to steer the organisation to further success at this time of change and challenge.
I care passionately about representing and involving members, about keeping the BMC active as the National Representative Body and about supporting volunteers to make the BMC the
best it can be.

Les Ainsworth
Candidate for BMC President
I am standing for BMC President because of my concern that the polarising affects of the organisational change process could lead to the loss of many good, long-standing members, whichever way the vote goes. Although many members may see these organisational changes as peripheral to their personal climbing and mountaineering interests, the organisational structure that we adopt will impact the full range of the BMC’s activities. Whilst I fully accept that members hold passionate views on both sides of this issue, I am saddened that debate has become to some extent characterised by claims of ‘steam rollering’, ‘misinformation’, ‘withheld information’, ‘overinterpretation of subjective data’ and ‘deliberate bias’. This has all led to a degree of mistrust and so a lot of bridge building will be needed to unify the BMC whatever the outcome of the vote.

John Roberts
Candidate for BMC Vice-President
I'm an experienced climber, BMC volunteer and professional with experience of influencing sector level change.
Having spent the last year on the Organisational Review Group (ORG) I understand the complex issues and change the BMC currently faces, and the need to be the champion of all members, build bridges and enhance partnerships across climbing hillwalking and mountaineering.

Amanda Parshall
Candidate for Independent Director
Amanda has loved the outdoors since childhood, despite frequently being instructed “don’t move” by an avid bird-watching father when out with the family. Amanda is not a climber, nor a mountaineer, but she has a long-standing passion for the mountains and for long distance walks, particularly in the Pyrenees. Living in Australia for many years she has also spent a lot of time avoiding snakes and spiders in the NSW national parks, and in the mud of South West Tasmania.
A solicitor by profession, Amanda has extensive experience as a senior executive for large and complex organisations and has had a varied career working in legal and risk management around the world.

Your AGM: Thanks for your vote!
This year's historic AGM had a record voting turnout, with 6,796 of those votes being made online. We want to thank everyone for having their say and helping to shape the future of the BMC.
Detailed info on the BMC AGM 2018
Find out more about the last AGM. It's a complicated topic, so start with this one:
We were asking our members to vote on some significant changes to the BMC's constitution. Part of the discussion was the relationship between the BMC and Sport England.
There were two constitutions to vote for: Proposal A (as recommended by National Council) and Proposal B, proposed by a group of members. To learn more about the two proposals, you can read a detailed comparison written by BMC honorary solictor Martin Wragg.
How did the recommendations get decided? Read more about the process that lead to this stage, including the reports from the Organisational Review and more.

We held a debate in Manchester on 15 May for both options to be discussed. You can watch the livestream here:
