What's new in the BMC online shop - April

Posted by Tony Ryan on 07/04/2011

Check out the latest additions to the shop, including a new British Mountain map and some special offers for spring getaway destinations.

What’s New

The award-winning British Mountain Map series now covers the Brecon Beacons; home to spectacular landscapes, a rich variety of wildlife and fascinating cultural and geological heritage, the area boasts a magnificent array of sandstone peaks, open moorland and green valleys. The RRP of all British Mountain Maps has gone up to £14.95, but we are holding the BMC member price on all 11 maps in the series at £10.95.

The second volume of Yorkshire Gritstone Bouldering is now out, and covers the area north of Harrogate and Skipton; as with the first volume it uses full colour topos and stunning colour photography throughout. For more bouldering inspiration, check out the Reach DVD, featuring the likes of Dave Graham and Daniel Woods on some of the world’s hardest problems.

Climb Norway is a guide to sport climbing in Norway, published by the Norwegian Bolt Fund. The guidebook uses colour topos to describe routes on crags from Oslo in the south up to Tromso and beyond in the north; approach information plus any other special considerations are in English.

The South Downs is England’s newest national park, and Walks in the South Downs National Park describes 40 circular walks, visiting iconic places such as Beachy Head and the Seven Sisters, Ditchling Beacon and Cissbury Ring.

Trekking in the Alps is a new inspirational walking guide to 20 summer treks in the European Alps, including the classics such as the Tour of Mont Blanc and lesser-known routes like the Traverse of the Slovenian Alps.

Wild Vision is the first retrospective of British nature, travel and adventurer photographer John Beatty’s work; 240 pages of superb photography and essays that build a picture of the wildness, beauty and character of the planet as seen with John Beatty's unique insight and perspective.

Club history buffs can follow the exploits and adventures of Paul Nunn, Martin Boysen and Pete Crew in Al Parker’s history of the Alpha Mountaineering Club, Alpha Males.
