Yorkshire 3 Peaks set for footpath project

The Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority is launching a new project to help safeguard the long-term future of the footpath network around these iconic (and very popular) Yorkshire peaks

During the 1980's, many of the footpaths around the 3 Peaks had pretty serious erosion problems. Thankfully, in the 1990's the YDNPA addressed many of the problem areas with external funding, 13 dedicated staff, path engineering and revegetation techniques and sustainable routes, all of which allowed the land to recover.

However, the area now faces the issue of the long term maintenance of the footpath network and the YDNPA are hoping to engage with visitors, local businesses, and event organisers to create a sustainable source of both practical and financial support to help protect and enhance the area and its PRoW network.

As part of the project, community drop-in events have been organised to illustrate the project aims, details of how to get involved and how local business can benefit.

These will be held on 11th May, Settle Victoria Centre, 11am – 8pm and on 14th May, Ingleborough Community Centre, 2pm – 8pm.
So why not call in and get involved?
