It seems that the recent retrobolting of some routes around and including Biological Need at Kilnsey hasn’t quite worked as intended.
On 28 June, a climber working the route sat on the fourth bolt, and narrowly avoided a ground fall after it (and a lower bolt) came away from the rock. After composing himself, the climber determined to check some other bolts close by and found that many of them (including the belays) could be turned by hand using a karabiner as a lever. Needless to say, visitors should exercise extreme caution in this area until the issue is resolved. The BMC Technical Committee is currently investigating in the incident which seems to be a result of incorrectly set resin. Further details as and when.
