Waunfawr Boulders


A great collection of big boulders hidden in the woods. Many of the landings are uneven and/or high, so take an extra pad or two. It is close to a nature reserve so please be mindful of this, keep the noise down and leave no trace of your visit.

Parking and Approach

Park in the layby on the right hand side of the road and approach via the main public footpath, branching left at the edge of the woods, until the vague path goes diagonally up and right after 100 metres or so.
Area information

A wide range of cliffs - mainly traditional and multi pitch inc. the popular Llanberis Pass, Idwal Slabs, Clogwyn du'r Arddu and Cwm Silyn cliffs, but also outlying outcrops such as Carreg Alltrem. Many crags are on CROW access land - but not all especially some of the outcrops which lie on private enclosed land. Most of central Snowdonia is both designated an SSSI and also is an European Special Area of Conservation on account of the upland habitat and associated geology and plants found here.
