Bitholmes Wood

Northern Gritstone

Large and loose north facing landslip crag opposite Wharncliff. Mostly unsuitable for climbing due to vegetation, and loose rock. The exception being a small amount of bouldering, including one very good block.

On CRoW land, but be aware that the land directly above is not and this is used as a firing range, do not enter this area!

Parking and Approach

Limited roadside parking toward the bottom of More Hall Lane, where a track leads north into Bitholmes Wood. There is a signboard at the entrance to this track.

Follow the track going straight on when it forks. After this bear up and left until the crag is reached. The 'One Redeeming Feature' block is high on the slope at the left end of the crag.
