Y Diffwys (Moel Hebog)

Snowdonia

Not highly recommended as it is often vegetated (and getting more so). Multi-pitch routes up to 490ft. And not a single star for any of them in the 1989 guidebook.

Parking and Approach

Take the walkers path from Beddgelert. Abt 0.5mi N of the village follow a private road to Cwm Cloch farm: the path heads R, onto the hill, then takes the grassy spur down from the summits between Cwm Cloch and Cwm Bleiddiaid. (You may choose to disbelieve the OS map which suggests a bridleway goes right up and over the crag.)
Area information

A wide range of cliffs - mainly traditional and multi pitch inc. the popular Llanberis Pass, Idwal Slabs, Clogwyn du'r Arddu and Cwm Silyn cliffs, but also outlying outcrops such as Carreg Alltrem. Many crags are on CROW access land - but not all especially some of the outcrops which lie on private enclosed land. Most of central Snowdonia is both designated an SSSI and also is an European Special Area of Conservation on account of the upland habitat and associated geology and plants found here.
