Tryfan Rest Boulder

Snowdonia

A large cleft boulder right by the fence on the way up or down from Tryfan (above Tryfan Fach). Has a number of easy problems and the odd harder one. Not really worth a walk in just for this but a bit of sport if you are passing

Parking and Approach

No access issues. The boulder sits on the south side of the fence near a stile on the way up (or down) from Tryfan above Tryfan Fach. The ground here levels and the path branches off right to head up to the Heather Terrace. Many people stop for a breather here before heading up - hence calling it Tryfan Rest boulder.
Area information

A wide range of cliffs - mainly traditional and multi pitch inc. the popular Llanberis Pass, Idwal Slabs, Clogwyn du'r Arddu and Cwm Silyn cliffs, but also outlying outcrops such as Carreg Alltrem. Many crags are on CROW access land - but not all especially some of the outcrops which lie on private enclosed land. Most of central Snowdonia is both designated an SSSI and also is an European Special Area of Conservation on account of the upland habitat and associated geology and plants found here.
