Taf Fechan Quarry

Quarried and hence some loose rock around ledges: best to abseil from tree belays (plentiful). Single-pitch routes up to 36m, none very outstanding (and some utter rubbish to be avoided).

Parking and Approach

Leave the A465 at the Merthyr Industrial Estate junction (also signpost Mountain Railway). Follow Mtn Railway signs to the rail terminus, continue to Ponsticill and layby on L opposite telephone pole (used to be charred).Climb the bank behind the pole, over railway line, to quarry.
