Scott's Quarry

Wye Valley & Forest of Dean

An old quarry, probably owned by the Forestry Commission. Quite dark, though generally fairly dry. The quarry floor doesn't get too overgrown, though the routes probably pick up dust, and mud, and the odd bramble, and the tops on some routes may well be overgrown, so some cleaning is likely. The quality of the routes would be improved but for a band of rottenish rock, with varying capacity for being 'cleaned up'.Approach is from either above down the track from the sharp bend in Church Hill Road (Dance's Corner- there's a large verge you can park on), or below from the disused railway line. Leave the cycle track just above the 'zigzag' to enter the quarry. On the left is a bay, with an overhanging roof containing Venture and Adventure. Right of this is the corner crack line of Snowy, with a tree at 4/5 height. The wall on the right contains Motherly Love.
