Parking and Approach

Take junction 36 off the M6 and drive towards Kendal on the A591. Turn towards Barrow on the A590. When the dual carriage way becomes a single carriage way, start looking for a right turn signed Mill Side and Beck Head. Drive into the village of Mill Side. After 0.3 miles from the A590, turn right, immediately before the pond, into the road with the telephone box. Park with extreme caution taking care not to block any access for the milk tanker. Walk up the hill (the right fork) past 2 houses on the right and a farm on the left, for 300 metres to reach a junction and a footpath/bridleway sign. Continue rightwards along the bridleway for 230 metres, until you reach a permissive footpath on the left. If you get to the large house you have gone too far. Follow the permissive footpath for just over 200 metres to a junction at a marker post (do not go left too early, the marker post is obvious). Go left at this post and continue, crossing over a scree slope for about 180 metres until arriving at the right hand end of the crag.
