An esoteric woodland crag overlooking the A19. There is some suspect rock and a number of routes are vegetated.

Crag information
Climbing Area: North East Rock Type: Sandstone
Importance: Local CRoW Land: Yes
Ownership: Unknown No. of Routes: 25
Within National Park: Yes Year Developed: 1974
Grid Reference: SE451935

The crag was previously sorounded by trees and prone to dampness, forestry clearance has opened it up with an improvement in suitability for climbing. The crag rises to 13m and combined with suspect rock and steep ground below the crag, routes can feel serious for their grade. It has seen an increase in climbing activity in recent years with a number of new lines being claimed.

Parking and Approach

Leave the A19 signposted for Nether Silton. Turn left in the hamlet of Over Silton and proceed for a few hundred yards to a small quarry on the left at SE451943 where cars can be parked. Walk back 20m to a signposted bridle way leading steeply uphill. A forest road merges from the right and 20m further on a feint path heads off left into trees. The crag is some 200m further along a steep slope where the ground eases, allowing access to the base of the crag. Should the quarry parking be unavailable, please park with consideration back near the road junction so as not to alienate residents.
