Find out about the opportunities to get involved in #WomenOutdoors Week in the North West and Wales.

For those living in the North West and Wales there are lots of opportunities to get outdoors and get involved in #WomenOutdoors Week. The campaign is supported by Cotswold Outdoor who will be donating a number of prizes. To be in with a chance of winning these prizes, get active outdoors between 5-15 August and tweet your photos and comments to @TGCclimbing@CotswoldOutdoor and use #WomenOutdoors to enter the prize draw.

Hill walking is a great activity for those looking to improve health, have some fun and explore new places. There are many places to get out walking, from national parks such as the Peak District, the Lake District and Snowdonia National Park, to lower areas on the outskirts of urban areas. Here's some essential hill walking know how to get you started.
The National Trust has a huge variety of places to walk from shorter walks in the grounds of their many properties, to longer walks in the great outdoors.  Find a National Trust walk that suits you and get outdoors with friends and family between 5-15 August.

Rock climbing is a great social activity, and indoor rock climbing and bouldering are becoming more and more popular. Indoor walls regularly change their routes, which cater for varying levels from beginner through to the more advanced. There's always something for everyone in this fun, social environment. Learn about the basics of indoor climbing.

Outdoor events

Peak Climbing Club
A family friendly day of outdoor fun, with the priority being on women climbing whilst the kids are entertained by the men!
Climbing, walking, a barbecue and a scavenger trail for the kids.

Often women give up or significantly reduce their participation in outdoor activities when they have children, whilst men seem to be less affected.  This is opportunity for women, and for non-climbing partners of climbers, to meet likeminded women.  If you haven’t climbed before, or haven’t climbed in a while, you can have a go in a friendly environment. If bringing children, you need to ensure there's another parent or adult to act in loco parentis. There is a pond in the quarry, however, there is also plenty of space for kids to run around and play games well away from the water.

Sunday 7 August, 10am-4pm, Lawrencefield Quarry (park at Surprise View carpark, bank card required for the pay & display), Come and go as you please, but the walk will set off at around 11am.

£2 per adult, £1 per child, pay in cash on the day. Wet weather alternative TBC.
Please contact Becky Hammond rebecca.j.e.hammond@gmail.com 07901 813175 or Greg Bristol gregnlyns@googlemail.com 07967 607158 in advance.
