South East Wales

Goitre Coed Rocks are to be found on the South West facing hillside above the A4059 and Abercynon, between grid references 085958 and 079961. Goitre Coed Rocks starts as a rock escarpment which is initially loose and unappealing until the bay of The Bathroom is reached. The edge continues in sections of solid low walls. The rest of the bouldering is a series of walls and boulders scattered below and South West of the edge, some on the open hillside, some buried in the woods. Goitre Coed Rocks has over 120 recorded problems at present. Recently the landowner of Mynydd Goitre has expressed that he doesn't want climbing on his land with concerns over liability, unfortunately it looks like the OS open access may be mapped incorrectly here and looks like open access stops at the fence not the crag.

BMC met with the land owner and we can confirm that the OS maps is incorrect, the farmers have expressed that all the climbers they have seen have been polite, however are still concerned with liability, if you are to climb in this area please keep a low profile, keep the area clean and approach from the forest below not over the private land above. If you are asked to leave please do so without fuss.
