Your news wanted: for new-look Peak Area newsletter

The Peak Area: needs your help

At the last BMC Peak Area meeting in April, and following a lively discussion, it was decided to restart the Peak Area Newsletter, but we need your help.

The idea is to make the newsletter more or less in its previous format, but better looking!

There is at least one gap in the team; we really do need a climber's input. And, whilst on the wish list a graphic design expert's touch would also be useful. The necessities though are contributions; towards the end of last year it was becoming more and more difficult to obtain material.

Please send your articles, letters, photos, important notices etc to peakarea@gmail.com

It is always good to have material well before the deadline, that's why it's called a deadline and not a target.

Any topic will be considered, the only requirement is that it should be relevant to the mountaineers, walkers and climbers in the Peak Area. Summit magazine is the place for the national stuff. Any length up to 200 words; if you want to go longer, best to call us first. We particularly welcome material from clubs.

We can cope with pretty much any format of document or picture you care to send in. We use a Desktop Publishing Package (Scribus) to do the magic so plain text is easiest to handle (but feel free to insert comments about what highlighting/font/positioning of photos you want). As far as photos go we like them as unprocessed as possible, straight out of the camera. Crop them if you must (or tell us what you want) but please then save them as png or tiff if possible.

The intention is to publish the newsletter a week before each Peak Area meeting, with a deadline for material of two weeks before the meeting. So, assuming the next meeting is 8 June, the Newsletter will hit the stands on 1 June and the Deadline for submissions is 25 May.
