Interview: Steve McClure, the second ascent of Lexicon E11 7a and that fall
On September 4, Neil Gresham made the first ascent of Lexicon at Pavey Ark. Soon after, Steve McClure, who had been itching to get on it, claimed the second ascent... after taking a 70-foot whipper in his stride during his first serious 'look' at the route. This is Steve's second of the grade: he made the third ascent of Dave MacLeod's Rhapsody E11 7a at Dumbarton Rock in 2008. Sarah Stirling interviews.

Interview: Anna Taylor completes first ever self-powered Classic Rock round
Earlier this month, Anna Taylor became the first person to complete a self-powered round of every route that features in Classic Rock, the iconic guidebook written by Ken Wilson. Carrying all her kit, Anna, 23, cycled 2,400 kilometres and climbed over 10,000 metres during a journey that lasted 62 days and saw her solo most of the 83 routes. GB Paraclimbing has been on a roll lately. At the World Championships in Moscow in September they walked away with six medals. This tally included a bronze medal in the B1 (blind) lead category for Jesse Dufton.

Safeguarding Matters
Safeguarding is an important aspect of the BMC's work. Recently there have been a number of high profile convictions of men who have worked in the climbing, walking, mountaineering sector for sexual offences against children.
