Lancashire's premier climbing festival, WiltonFest, is back for 2017 and we're planning an even bigger day than last year's blockbuster. Coming to you on Saturday 2 September – it's the event you definitely don't want to miss.

Many from the Lancashire climbing scene and further afield will have known local legend Nick Bond, who's up there with the friendliest folk at the crag and always ready with some witty banter, his was a familiar face in the Lancashire quarries. Nick had the vision to get WiltonFest up and running and has been heavily involved ever since, not to mention his guidebook contributions and more. The sad news that Nick lost his battle with cancer recently will have come as a shock to many, so this year's WiltonFest is being held in Nick's honour, with all proceeds going to Climbers Against Cancer (CAC). Let's make it a big one!

We're kicking off the festival at 11am from festival basecamp in Wilton 2 and running late into the evening, with something for everyone throughout the day. Basecamp will house plenty of stalls and stands including:

  • All day brews for a donation to CAC
  • All day tombola of climbing prizes
  • The BMC shop with plenty of special offers
  • Plenty of other stands from local climbing and outdoor clubs and companies

Parking

For first timers to Wilton, there are a number of places to park, all within a five minute walk of the basecamp area in Wilton 2:
  • There is parking at the side of Scout Road where drop curbs have been installed, directly opposite the Wilton 2 and 4.
  • The car park layby beneath Wilton 3
  • The BMC owned car park on the left side of the Wilton Arms (facing the pub)
  • Additional parking can be found if you park carefully further up Scout Road towards Brownstones or on Belmont Road

Please park considerately, not blocking the road, gates or driveways and allowing as many cars to park as possible as we're expecting another good turnout this year.

Camping

If you fancy staying over after the festivities end, feel free to pitch your tent in Wilton 1 but please make sure you clean up after yourself and take any litter home with you.
